Man! I am a Unique Creature

This will be the first part in this new series – Man, A Unique Creature. In this series, we’ll be delving the path of self discovery and core definition of origin. We hope to get the answer to the ‘who am I?’ question that is core to a meaningful life on earth.

Foundation

Before man started existing, there was a discussion in the God-head. The discussion was because of the need for an entity that will govern the brand new earth that God has just created. It’s more like an entrepreneur that has got a very beautiful business plan and has setup the business with all the resources that the business needs, but then needs an experienced/skilled CEO to manage the day -to-day running of it.

God knew that the earth He just made will need a domiciled entity – a governor,  that will live in this space but having the intelligence and ability of  God. So man had to be created, a being in God’s IMAGE and LIKENESS – a god. The core mandate was to be in charge of the earth and manage it. In His direct charge – He said to man – ‘be fruitful! Multiply! Replenish the earth! Have Dominion over the other creatures!’ – Genesis 1: 26-28 This was the man that God created!

Man an invisible being

But the man1 that God created was nowhere to be found on earth. The animals couldn’t see him. He was invincible. Then out of the dust of the  ground, God formed man, breathed into him the breath of life and he became a living soul. This is the unique aspect of man that no other creature or being has – the soul. The soul of man is that intangible being that links the flesh of man to the spirit of God in man (the breath of God). There is no other creature in heaven, earth or hell that has a soul – except for man.

So man, the invisible being created in the image of God(a Spirit), was now given a physical container (body) so he can live on earth, so he(man) became a living soul.

The Tripartite Man

Therefore, man is a spirit, created in the image of God, that has a soul, which lives in a body

1 God said, let us make man in our own image, and then, male and female He created them. This makes it clear that the man being referred to here covers both the male and female – all of Humanity
