The Mountain Story

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Matthew 24:36

In this chapter of the Holy Bible, Jesus began to tell His disciples of an event that will happen on a certain day in the history of mankind.
That event will happen on a particular day, at a particular time.
Unfortunately, nobody can accurately predict the time or day; it’s only the Father that knows it.
That event is about His coming again or His second coming as some will put it.
He (Jesus), went further to tell us the signs that will mark the days before this event; happenings in the world that will give us a clue that, that day is at hand. All those signs abound all around us;

For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

Matthew 24:5-7

But some people will say that we have been hearing about this second coming since we were small, now we are old and ‘they’ are still saying the samething. See what Peter said about this;

knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:3-9

The real essence of that message to us, as individuals, is not about ‘waiting’ to witness that day, but to be prepared for that day and be ready for it or its version in our lives.
Of a surety, Jesus, the Christ, the KING of kings and LORD of lords is coming back to this earth very soon. He is coming, not as the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the whole world, but as the judge of all, seated on the white horse, whose eyes were like a flame of fire, and on whose head there are many crowns.

What will benefit you the most is to live ready. Because, it’s either you witness His real coming back (which will happen, in a twinkling of an eye, unexpectedly like a thief at night) or you’ll transit and go to meet Him (your own version of His second coming).

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

2 Peter 3:10-13

The question is, what version of you will meet the LORD when He comes or when you go to Him?
Is it the version of you that is still chasing after your lusts and ambitions outside His will?
Is it the version of you that is still thinking that there is still time, so let us party and enjoy?
Is it the version of you that is still deeply engrossed in sin - unforgiveness, malice, hatred, lies, adultery, fornication, cheating and all forms of vices that are not convenient to your soul?

A song writer wrote it this way ‘then sings my soul, my savior God to thee…’ what melody is coming out from your soul to the Savior? Is it a song of the saints and pilgrims or the song of Babylon. Look, Babylon has been earmarked for utter destruction, she and all those that are in her.
Run for your life! This world’s system is crumbling,

And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”

Revelation 18:2-3

This world is perishing and everything that is in it, but it’s only God’s word(God’s Kingdom and system) that lives and abides forever.
My dear, run for your life. It’s time to take stock of your engagements and sift off everything that will land you in eternal regrets.
Lastly, the reason people feel that His coming is taking too long is because they are not occupying. They are just waiting. See that I did not say that you are not busy or engaged in your business, career, education etc. That’s different from occupying the position God has ordained for you to serve in His grand plans and purposes on earth. Jesus said, Occupy till I come. In the parable of the talents, the man that dug the groundband buried his talent was busy, but he wasn’t occupying. The bible said;

“For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, …’

Acts 13:36

This is the same David that prophesied about the coming of Jesus. Most prophets through whom God spoke about the first coming of Christ never witnessed it.

These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Hebrews 11:39-40

You have an assignment of God to this generation. Your goal should be to faithfully serve the will of God in your Generation. If His return meets you here, good! if not, after you have served the purpose of God, you go for your reward in His presence like Daniel.

“As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”

Daniel 11:13

Jesus described this as talents. It’s time to give expression to His assignment for your life. (I’m not talking about your ambition). His command is don’t wait but Occupy till I come!
The truth is that you cannot fulfill your assignment on earth without partnering with Him. He said it this way,

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 15:5

If you are genuinely occupying, then you are ready for his coming.
Also note that your assignment must have one sole aim – to glorify Jesus.
In summary, ‘thy kingdom come, and thy will be done on earth’, when it becomes your true lifestyle, then you are ready for His coming.
It all starts by making Jesus the Lord of your life. Would you receive His offer today? Please pray this simple prayer from the depth of your heart;

LORD JESUS, I believe that you are the son of God. Thank you for dying in my place and rising again from death for my salvation and justification. Today, I confess you as the Lord of my life. I ask that your cleansing blood wash away my sins and make me clean before the Father.
Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who enables me live victoriously everyday and to bring me spotless into your kingdom and eternal rest.
Thank you for the gift of my salvation.
In Jesus Name.Amen.
