The Worth Of Your Soul

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Mark 8:36

Jesus asked this question to His audience.
Today, He is asking you the same question; what is the worth of your soul?

Obviously, the value of a thing is not appreciated by the product, rather by the manufacturer or the owner.
Just as gold doesn’t know it’s worth or value(but the goldsmith does), you don’t know your true value, but Jesus does. Because;

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:3

First, let me remind you that you didn’t just appear in this world, nor was it just because your parents met.
No, it’s beyond that! Your were meticulously created by Him.

Jeremaih put it this way;

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1:5

David was even more exact. He said;

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Psalm 139:13

You will ask, how possible was that?
The complexity of the human body should make you realise that it wasn’t just a mere occurrence that got it together.
Different systems, carefully designed to make the body function well – the respiratory, digestive, nervous, reproductive, etc systems.

But man is not just this body. As complex as the human body is, there is yet a more powerful engine -the soul, that powers it. That’s why, no matter how robust the body might be, once the soul of man leaves the body, the body becomes useless, and the entire system stops working.

Recall that after God created man (as a spirit in His nature), he needed to form a body through which the spirit can function on the earth.
Notice that man was lifeless after God formed him from the dust, until He breathed the breath of life into him, and then man became a living soul, this is the engine that powers the body. Your soul is that vital connection between your spirit and your body. In fact, your soul is your vital you.

Back to our main question,
For what shall it profit you, if you should gain(acquire, posses, inherit) the whole world, and loose your soul?
The simple answer is absolutely NOTHING. You’ve lost everything.

Satan the devil, was in Heaven, he knows how beautiful and pleasant it is. But unfortunately, his fate has been eternally determined, he is spending it in hell -the place of fire and brimstone.
So all he is currently doing, is to, as quickly as possible, recruit companions, that will spend the rest of their eternity with him in hell.
That said, you can now appreciate his offers.
He CANNOT offer you what is better than what you currently have! The same way he deceived Eve, stole her dignity and the power of attorney that made her and Adam the god of the earth, with just some apple bites – and not as if they were hungry. His offers will always be targeted at taking your treasure and giving you trash.

Remember he also tempted Jesus, he told Him, to bow to him so he will give Him the riches of the world. …but it’s not even his anymore, because Christ has redeemed man.

So when Jesus asked his audience this question, the same that He is asking you today, He already knew that the answer is that you actually profit nothing, even if you have a trillion dollars and lost your soul.

My sincere prayer, is that you will come to the realisation of this truth now. You are worth much more!

In summary, I want you to realise that the only person that can give you life in abundance, here on earth and in eternity is Christ Jesus. The salvation He offers is an all-round package containing power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Revelation 5:12

Today I invite you to a life of peace and a confident assurance of eternity, please say this prayer sincerely;

LORD JESUS, I believe that you are the son of God. Thank you for dying in my place and rising again from death for my salvation and justification. Today, I confess you as the Lord of my life. I ask that your cleansing blood wash away my sins and make me clean before the Father.
Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who enables me live victoriously everyday and to bring me spotless into your kingdom and eternal rest.
Thank you for the gift of my salvation.
